The mission of Halal This Way, LLC is to make life better for Queer individuals and communities in Muslim and/or Arab spaces. Halal This Way, LLC is a social enterprise that was incorporated in 2013 to function as a multimedia platform that aims to educate, advocate, organize and mobilize around what we believe to be an islamically-affirming place for various gender and sexual minorities.
The organization is in the process of publishing Halal This Way: Towards a Viable Queering in Sunni Islam (a book based on Maher Alhaj's Master's thesis to the Ministry Program at the Divinity School of the University of Chicago). This book provides a critical theoretical framework needed to pave a viable framework of acceptance for Queer communities within the Sunni tradition at the onset of the twenty first century. A digital version of the book (eBook, PDF, Website Installment Edition) is being offered for free on this website.
